My mother tongue is Kannada (spoken in Karnataka, India). My father tongue is Telugu (spoken in Andhra Pradesh/ Telengana, India). My parents were brought up in Chennai and hence can speak Tamil (spoken in Tamil Nadu, India). My father was in a transferable job and hence he had to move from one state in India to another state once every three years or so. All the above made me fall in love with languages and cultures.
I learnt Hindi ( second language taught from Grade 1 to Grade 10) and Sanskrit (third language taught from Grade 6 to Grade 8) during my school days. The medium of instruction from Grade 1 to Grade 12 in School as well as in Graduation and Post graduation was in English.
Multilingualism was practiced as I was growing up while experiencing the cultural diversity of Jammu (erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, India) Roorkee (Uttarakhand, India), Nagpur (Maharashtra, India), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Delhi.
I can read, write and speak English and Hindi apart from speak and understand Kannada, Telugu and Tamil prior to learning Foreign Languages.
I completed my BA (Hons) Psychology from India’s premier institute (Lady Shriram College for Women at Delhi) between 2021-24. My love for learning foreign languages especially French was overwhelming that I discontinued my Masters in Psychology (2024-26) after three months. In India, one has to appear in a pan-India exam to get selected for premier central Universities like Jawaharlal Nehru University (Ranked No.2 in India for 2025 – University Category). I have DELF B2 since June 2022. With that confidence, I prepared for the entrance exam while learning Japanese and Spanish between December 2024 and July 2025.
I secured my admission in the highly competitive MA French and Francophone Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi in July 2025 as I was ranked 9th in the country after appearing in the Common University Entrance Test for Post Graduate (CUET PG 2025) for this University/Course for 2025-27 admissions.
I developed a keen interest in learning French academic subjects in my first semester thanks to outstanding professors in Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. As a practicing multilinguist, I continued my in-person Spanish learning through classes from Instituto Cervantes New Delhi during the weekends. I scored 8.25/9 SGPA (87.5 % – Percentage conversion = SGPA x 10 + 5) in my first semester.
The results in my first semester motivated me to appear for French DALF C1 while doing coursework for my second semester and weekend in-person Spanish learning at Instituto Cervantes New Delhi. My focused preparation and love for the French subjects on offer in the second semester helped me to score 8.4/9 SGPA (89 %). The improvement of my score in the second semester reinforced my belief that I have transitioned well from Psychology to French as an academic subject. My overall CGPA at the end of first year is 8.33/9 (88.3 %)
