Online education has grown rapidly post COVID-19 due to ease of internet access and its affordability. It’s imperative that current and future educators have to be increasingly adept in utilising computer assisted tools to enhance delivery of knowledge to world learners.
During my Grade 12 and first year of my Bachelors, I saw experienced and knowledgeable faculty struggle with tools to conduct classes. Towards equipping myself with skills, I chose courses that helps me how to teach in a digital environment in an inclusive and accessible environment.
Google Certified Educator courses provide foundational and advanced proficiency of widely used Google tools like Meet, Classroom, Slides, Drive, Sites, Calendar, Docs and Forms.
The content of 25-hours “The Digital Teacher” offered by UNESCO MGIEP sparked my curiosity to explore further the use of digital technologies to create fresher learning experiences. The self-directed course delivered online is aligned with international standards and aspires to meet United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4.
Lessons on empathy towards learners while critically enquiring on the subject by the teachers using digital tools and steps to develop digital competency are delivered well in this course to make an indelible impact.
